You've Already Written Your First Book Without Even Realizing It

Hey there,

What if I told you that you've already written your first book? You just didn’t know it yet. Sounds crazy, right? But here’s the truth: A book is simply a collection of useful information organized in a logical way. That’s it. And if you’ve been creating content in any form, you’re closer to having a book than you think.

Let’s break it down.

1. Articles and Blog Posts
One of my clients thought she was "too busy" to write a book. But when we looked at her contributions to the Forbes Leadership Council, we realized she already had 300 pages of material. All centered around the same topic! She had been writing her book for years, article by article, without even noticing it.

2. Podcasts
Tim Ferriss’ last two books came straight from his podcast episodes. He transcribed the most downloaded episodes, edited them, and published them as books. Boom, instant bestsellers. If you’ve been hosting a podcast or guesting on others, guess what? You’ve got a book just waiting to be pulled together.

3. Social Media Posts
I once met an incredibly talented essayist and poet on a plane. She said she "didn't have time" to write a book, but she had been posting her work on Facebook for years. We went back and collected her poems and essays from her posts—347 pages later, her book was practically done. The content was already there, we just had to organize and publish it.

4. Academic Work
Maybe you’ve already done the hard part without realizing it. I turned my Master’s Thesis on Sylvester Stallone into a bestselling book. Ten years later, that book caught the attention of a producer from the History Channel. Now, I’ve been featured as a guest expert on multiple episodes of Entertainers Who Built America. It started as a thesis, but it became so much more.

5. Webinars
Frank Kern, a marketing genius, turns his webinars into books. He transcribes them, edits (sometimes!), and publishes. He’s even created what I call “webi-books” — selling the book, which leads people to watch the webinar, creating a perfect marketing loop. Brilliant, right?

Here's the bottom line:
If you’ve been creating content, whether it’s blog posts, social media updates, podcasts, or presentations, you’ve already got the bones of your book. It doesn’t have to be long either—some of the most influential books, like Scientific Advertising, are under 100 pages.

So, if you’ve ever said to yourself, “I don’t have time to write a book,” ask yourself this instead: “Where’s the book I’ve already created?”

If you need help pulling it all together, hit reply to this email and let’s chat. You’re closer to becoming an author than you think.
