7 Years and Still Thinking About Writing Your Book? Let’s Change That!
Have you ever found yourself saying, “I really want to write a book,” but somehow, years go by and it’s still not done? You're not alone. In fact, the average time people spend thinking about writing a book is... SEVEN years. Crazy, right? But there’s a simple reason for that: people get stuck.
The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way. If you follow these strategies, you can finally stop thinking about your book and get it done!
Create Your Outline FIRST
Before you write a single word, map out your chapters. Think of it like a TED Talk—you wouldn’t walk onto the stage without knowing exactly what you’re going to say and when. Your outline is your guide, giving your ideas structure and flow. It’s the backbone of your book. Once you've got that down, writing becomes so much easier.
Find Accountability
Here’s the big one—don’t try to do this alone. This is where most entrepreneurs make their biggest mistake. Writing a book is a marathon, and having someone to check in with regularly can make all the difference. Whether it's a friend, a mentor, or my team, accountability helps you make steady progress, solve problems, and stay motivated.
Establish a Writing Routine
Set a time. Pick a place. And protect it. Consistency is key here. I get it, life is busy, but even 30 minutes a day adds up fast. In fact, with the Bestseller By Design system, you can finish your rough draft in less than 30 days with less than 30 minutes of writing a day. The book doesn’t write itself, but with the right routine, it sure can feel that way.
Embrace Imperfection
Perfectionism is the enemy of progress. Just write! Get your ideas on the page and leave the revisions for later. The beauty of the process is that mistakes can always be fixed in editing. The first draft is about ideas, not perfection.
Stay Inspired
Surround yourself with inspiration. Whether it’s books, podcasts, or writing communities, keep that creative spark alive. A little bit of daily inspiration can do wonders for your motivation.
Celebrate Milestones
Finish a chapter? Reach a word count goal? Celebrate it! Acknowledging small wins along the way helps keep your motivation strong and your energy high.
Writing a book is a journey, but you don’t have to take years to get there. With the right plan and support, you can get your book done—and published—before you know it. Here’s to seeing your name on the cover! Reply to this email and we can set up a time to work on your plan together!
